When you study law, you are told that it is an "ancient tradition" that
you are obliged to "Eat the Dinners". So you go every six months or so
to the Inns of Court, and eat.

Your fellow law-students will be there at your table. Students from
other law schools will be at other tables.

At the top tables will be the most eminent lawyers, like Dr. Dr. Dr.
Dr. Dr. Dr. Robert Maxwell.

When you graduate, you find that there is no place for you in the legal
system.

However, if anybody asks, you will always be able to substantiate that
Mr. Mason QC was a law student, and that Dr. Maxwell was at the top
table. You will even be able to tell stories of how Mr. Mason was
wearing a blue robe. He was challenged by other students, who said he
must wear black. He said that it was indeed black, but the purity of
his soul was glowing through, making the robe appear brighter. The
students applauded - and he won a bottle of wine for his table from
those who issued the challenge.

What was really happening was that Maxwell - who was an embezzler
living under an assumed name - was being established as a legal
