I am coming to Padstow and staying Monday night - I am going to Rick Stein's
seafood cookery school and would be very grateful for recommendations for
places to stay in the area.

I am only there a short time but I'd like to get in some coastal rambling
and if there's a hotel where I can sit in the bath and watch the sea so much
the better

Thanks for any suggestions

The Old Custom House is a St Austell Brewery managed pub, (as opposed to a
tenant). The harbour is on the other side of the road, but as Padstow is in
an estuary, you can't really see the sea. I am a chef myself, and know a
number of people that have been to the cookery school. I am sure you will
enjoy it and Sir Rick of Padstein will make a brief appearance if he is in
residence.

Thanks Andrew,

I treated myself to a nice room at the Metropole with estuary views. The
cookery school was excellent, and it has whetted my appetite for doing some
more cookery courses as you can really improve so much just from a session
with a proper chef

Definitely going back to Padstow as soon as possible

Pleased you enjoyed it. Was your instructor Mark Puckey? He is a friend of
mine and my stepson went to college with him.
