Canada has one of the highest and most complex taxation systems in the
world, it's one of the few place where one pays tax on the tax
assesment. In fact it probably is the world leader in taxation and
bureaucracy,

Besides that it's freezing most of the time and almost all the
population live within 50 miles of the US border making them honarary
'merkins' (I don't mean pubic wigs).

Why on earth would any sane person want to buy land there? Wildlife
freak possibly? Masochist?

A bit like VAT being payable on the Duty (tax) on petrol or paying death
duties on savings that you have already paid tax on? Canada is one of the
most desirable countries in the world to live in. Instead of paying VAT at
17.5% we pay 15%. Certainly less bureaucracy than Mr Blair's red tape. Where
in the UK is the average salary £45,000 like it is currently in Fort
McMurray, Alberta. Many of the BIG UK corporations have their head offices
in Canada because of low taxation. Canada is nothing like the US. Have you
heard of the Western Morning News? Read the first paragraph.

It is actually, 90% of the population is within 200 miles of the border.
Canada is a lot larger than the US with a fraction of the population. The
border is well patrolled, and our southern neighbours generally wish to stay
there. Canada is happy with that arrangement :>) I guess you think we live
in igloos and go to work on a skidoo or a dog sled? Toronto is on the same
line of latitude as the south of France. Consequently, the temperature in
the summer is between 25 and 30' C every day of the summer. One day it went
up to 45'C. Today is 9'C and damp, just like a wet day in Polperro. Sure the
winters can be cold, but that kills off all the germs and we know the spring
is coming. At least electricity and gas is cheap and we can afford to heat
our homes! Tap water is nearly free.

Although I don't agree with the OP's off-topic spamming did you look at the
website? This house
http://www.saskatoonhomesonline.com/listings/lakewood/lakewood.html is
£61,000 includes all the kitchen white goods and the 'council tax' and water
rates are £840 a year!

or, take a look at this on 6.7 acres with outbuildings for 75 grand.

Each to his own, you stick with that nice Mr Blair. I prefer it over here.
