Having taken much interest in the way our council operates I believe
Ravenswood is doomed. IBC cannot build council houses anymore and the
politicos do like to have a whip hand of the sort that goes with
being a landlord or having a say about social housing. It does not
like Ravenswood being an estate of property owners who will vote
against labour so I think it will use its muscle to persuade people
to move on without being able to sell the property so that it has to
be rented out to social housing tenants. I recall what happened at
Phillips and Pipers (Pipers Court) in Old Foundry Road. The place was
redeveloped into a load of beautiful flats which sold for a really
high price at the time. However those who bought their flat didn't
realise that some of the tenants would be designated by IBC and they
moved low life druggies into some of the flats and soon the place was
one big doss house and those who had bought their flats could not
sell them and so they moved out and rented them out. A result for IBC
as it achieved social housing without building it. I believe that now
it is certain Macdonalds are to open at Ravenswood it is the signal
for those who have bought their property to sell and quick. See my
blog.
