Nice place Launceston - - shame about the town council.
Shops closing all over the place.
Same old pattern - shop closes - charity shop opens - another shop closes -
another Building Society opens - another shop goes out of business-
another Estate agent opens.
Someone at the council had the brilliant idea to attract more people to the
town.
Build a bigger car park.
Wonderful way of thinking. More Cars equals more people. More people spend
more money. Shops get busier - everyone happy.
WRONG.
Council builds bigger car park.
Council increases car parking charges.
Shoppers go elsewhere. Shops sell less - shops close.
No need for big car park after all.
Launceston has a huge car park - 90% Empty.
---------------------------

Listen up council.
People are fed up with being ripped off to park
Shopkeepers are suffering cos people are going somewhere where the parking
is FREE
Soon all the shops will be gone leaving charity Shops - or Building
Societies.
Soon you wont need a large car park at all - cos all the shops will be long
gone.

Listen up.

I was looking for something else when I picked this up but since I travel
through Launceston every day I thought I could comment.

I don't shop there. I may go to Tesco. Its easy to get at but even then I
find their car park congested and the positioning of the exit a nightmare so
I prefer to go to Asda in Plymouth or Bodmin.

I think everyone has to catch up with one thing. Town centres are dead and
gone. I havent been into a town for years. I wont go to Plymouth because
they desperately try to keep cars out. I dont go to Launceston because
there is nothing to go in for that I cant get out of town on a nice easy to
reach and easy to park out of town centre. Its a nightmare just negotiating
it. The roads are steep and narrow and its awful. Thats the geography and
cannot be changed.

Town centres are finished and everyone needs to wake up to that , not just
the council

Was this what you were looking for?

You have posted to a newsgroup set up by
the government to plug the gaps created by the abysmal
failure of their Psychiatric Care in the Community Policy.
The uk.local hierarchy was devised to provide an outlet for
individuals who would otherwise spending their days sitting
at home wearing an aluminium foil hat waiting for a full moon
to rise. It was hoped that this would reduce the incidence
of nutters out there howling at the moon and frightening the
shit out of their neighbours. Another of HMGs aims and
objectives was to provide a distraction to take their minds
of the problem of who they were going to knife to death next.
Unfortunately, this group has been taken over by the
articulate lower middle classes who have succeeding in
driving HMGs target audience away.Independant research has
shown that it was the amount and quality of the inane drivel,
called small talk which the middle classes are adept at, which
had the effect of doing their heads in. They left to
protect what was left of their sanity. Saddly this has happened
to the whole of uk.local. hierarchy.

This newsgroup is a very good example of another HMG failure.
